When Kristy Krasniqi refused to marry the man chosen by her parents, she was ‘sold’ by her father to two men and trafficked from Albania to Italy, France and Belgium.

When she came to England a friend helped her to escape from the violent men she was working for. Thanks to her lawyer, she won her case to remain in Britain, Kristy is now planning for the future for herself and her daughter Mia.

Never Give Up is part of the Our Lives series. The first five titles in the Our Lives series, written by women from Somalia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam and the Canary Islands about their experiences of living in Britain, were published between 1987 and 1994. Then in 2007, with the help of a grant from Get London Reading, a competition was run to encourage students of English to tell their own stories. Kristy’s winning entry is now published as the seventh title in the Our Lives series.
